Berlin capital has 3.5 million inhabitants. We arrived there on 15th July in the night, taking the train from Schoenefeld airport to Alexanderplatz where our hotel. Alexanderplatz seems to be a quite important square for Germany as has been witness of many historic events and the gathering of one million people in 4 November 1989 to demonstrate against the German Democratic Republic regime.
A colorful city, full of history in every single corner. Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charly museum was a must as well as the Berlin Wall where all the famous graffiti are preserved.
Reading all the attempts to cross the wall was full of humanity. People inventing all kind of devices and processes in order to dodge the soldiers at the wall. I remember clearly the famous movie about a balloon used for two families to cross the Berlin Wall. Big surprise to get to one of the museums and have founded in one of the corners of the museum.
Many of the experiences were a complete success, many others no. In the successful ones are couple stories full of human care.
There is a especial place in Berlin as a memorial of the murdered Jewish. It is just so gray and full of rectangles emulating graves. A place to stay, escape and breathe.
Berlin... we will come back...
